Child Rights Act

The CRA of 2003 is the most comprehensive legislation that responds to child protection. The Act has been passed in 25 out of 36 states plus the FCT. These are Abia (2006), Adamawa, Akwa Ibom (2008), Anambra, Bayelsa (2015), Benue (2008), Cross Rivers, Delta (2008), Ebonyi (2010), Edo (2007), Ekiti (2006), Enugu, Imo (2004), Kogi (2015), Kwara (2017), LAGOS ??? Nasarawa (2015), Niger (2010), Ogun (2003), Ondo (2006), Osun (2007), Oyo amended 2017, Plateau (2005), Rivers (), and Taraba (2005).

Kano and Yobe have CRA bills on the floor of their state assemblies for domestication. Targeted advocacy is currently being carried out by SGBV stakeholders in Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states to ensure that the Law is passed and assented to by the state assembly and the state Governor when it is presented.
